The event of great tradition was inaugurated by the Hungarian Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr József Gráf. The Minister enhanced in his inaugural speech that the Hungarian agricultural sector has found its place in the European Union, and what is more, it also leads the way in some respects. The prizes of the Farmers’ Days were handed over on the first day of the trade fairs.  After the evaluation of the applications, the products of the IKR Zrt., the .LM 5000 telehandler and the TRIMBLE EZ-GUIDE 500 lightbar won the two great prizes of the 23rd edition of the International Farmers’ Days in Bábolna.

The Agricultural Economics council-board held its meeting here, where the report on the agricultural economics in 2006 was discussed, a material which the Minister will propose for discussion in the Parliament in October.

The conference entitled ”Renewable Energy Resources in Use” was held on Thursday. The subject was a good choice, which was confirmed by the overcrowded hall, where the presenters collectively worked up the message: that a political decision must be given in this issue as early as possible, so that the farmers know their way about.  

Another important program held during the four days of the trade fair was the board meeting of the Hungarian Academy of Science, Department of Agriculture. One of the most significant subjects was the sales of agricultural machines. The organisers had the honour to welcome the Lázár brothers, the two Hungarian coach-driving champions in Bábolna. What accounted for their invitation was the partner meeting organised bz the Tendre Kft., a company active in the bait industry. They announced that they will jointly introduce their new product named WORLD CHAMPION Bábolna Tendre Bait.

International and domestic presenters gave voice to their views on the climate change and its aspects in the agriculture at the conference on this issue. The presenters stated that it should already be taken for granted, and some works like soil preparation or maize breeds should be adjusted to these circumstances.
A special program of the International Farmers’ Days was the exhibition of the agricultural machines. As in the previous years, the IKR specialists presented as many as 24 machine assemblies during work.
The spectacular program exhibiting machines and horses higlighted by music and some famous Hungarian showmen could’t be left out this time either.

The fair trade open from Wednesday until Saturday attracted as many as 80,000 people this year.
The Bábolna Ménesbirtok Kft., the host to the International Trade Fair in Bábolna, the IKR Zrt., the co-organizer and the Congress Kft., the organizer of the fair awaits their visitors to Bábolna at the same time next year.
